“What pleases me about the Prodac is just how well it works with the new plugs. That’s a lot of performance for the price”
The Prodac VEE 3 Digital cable is a perfect example of just how much influence a digital cable can have on the sound of a system. The Prodac uses a specially treated conductor and a shielding system designed specifically for digital cables to produce a cable that brings a natural feel to voices and instruments without compromising detail or dynamics.
The signal conductor is produced from very high purity single crystal copper and insulted with foamed polyethylene. The shielding is a combination of different materials that perform really well when used with digital cables.
The VEE 3 RCA plug is gold-plated and attached to the cables in a way that ensures there are no signal quality affecting changes to the precise 75 Ohm impedance of the cable. The Prodac VEE 3 is also available fitted with military grade Silver-plated 75Ohm BNC plugs

The Chord Prodac Digital cable is a coaxial design, making it relatively conventional when compared to the other Chord digital cables. There are a couple of important features though. The single central signal conductor is produced from a very high purity single crystal copper and is responsible for teaching us our first lesson in “there’s more to digital cables than you think”.
When we were first developing the Prodac Digital we experimented with several conductor types. What we found was that the choice of conductor material had a significant influence on the tonal characteristics of the system the cable was used in. There was no doubt that the single crystal copper conductor produced by quite a margin, the most neutral and natural sound. So much so that variations of this are used in all of our other digital cables, with the exception of the Sarum Digital Tuned ARAY.
Insulation is gas-foamed polyethylene and the other important lesson we learnt related to the shielding. The Prodac uses a dual layer shield like most of our other interconnect cables, the difference being that in order to achieve the level of performance that the Prodac does, the shield combines both conductive and semi-conductive shields.
The Prodac Digital is fitted with Chord’s custom VEE 3 RCA plug. The new design of the ABS outer shell and the unique gold-plating process applied to the contact areas, improves signal transfer across a wider frequency range. The signal return surround provides a secure high-pressure contact with all types of RCA sockets. The centre pin is insulated with PTFE and the design of the plug provides good strain relief without compressing the cable and compromising the performance. Avoiding compression of the cable is particularly important in the termination of digital cables. Any compression of the cable will produce changes in impedance that will have a direct effect on performance. The Prodac VEE 3 is also available fitted with military grade Silver-plated 75Ohm BNC plugs
